Cuttack: Are you regularly ordering grocery and food items online?
Think twice before searching for phone numbers of e-commerce firms, or stores, offering free home delivery of essentials as you might end up in losing your hard earned money.
The Commissionerate Police has advised people in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to be extra cautious while placing orders online.
Through a tweet, the DCP Cuttack has advised people to place home delivery orders from trusted / reputed e-commerce platforms. It is pertinent to mention here a lot of people in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are placing orders for a wide range of products from grocery to garments online in view of the restricted lockdown which is continuing in several other districts of the State to break the Covid-19 infection chain.
According to the Commissionerate Police, the mobile phone numbers (contact) which are advertised on social media promising delivery of goods may be deceiving. As a result, the customer may not get the ordered items delivered even after paying money.
Apart from the home delivery fraud, the Commissionerate Police has also advised people to beware of the fake advertisements. The senior officials have suggested to ‘search safely’ the customer care service numbers from the internet as there have been instances in past where people have been duped by online fraudsters.
“Customer care numbers, helpline numbers may be taken from official website,” the official handle of the Cuttack DCP tweeted.
