Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has directed Collectors of several Odisha districts to remain alert in view of heavy rainfall forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD’s weather bulletin, several districts in Odisha will experience heavy rainfall under the impact of a low pressure area which is likely to develop over North and adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal on Sunday.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Gajapati today. Heavy rain is also likely in Rayagada, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Bolangir and Bargarh.
In a letter, SRC has directed Collectors to closely monitor situation in the districts for which the IMD has issued Orange and Yellow warning (heavy rainfall).
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 HRS of August 10 up to 0830 HRS of August 11)
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nuapada with extremely heavy rainfall likely in one or two places in the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Koraput.
Yellow Warning: Districts of Rayagada, Nayagarh, Boudh, Gajapati and Bargarh to experience heavy rainfall.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 HRS of August 11 up to 0830 HRS of August 12)
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Nuapada.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall alert for the places of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Sambalpur.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 HRS of August 12 up to 0830 HRS of August 13)
Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh.
