Cuttack: Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is all set to begin a special vaccination drive on Wednesday for the students who are scheduled to travel abroad for higher education purpose.
A special session site has been set up at Kalyan Mandap near Gopalpur for the inoculation exercise of the particular group of students. Those who are scheduled to make a foreign tour for research or higher study in near future can take the opportunity today on production of required documents. The Civic body had informed this in a tweet.
A similar camp will be set up at PN College in Khurda for special vaccination programme. Students above 18 years-old can take the Covishield jab by producing valid documents as per central guidelines.
The vaccination programme will continue from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 1 pm, Khurda Collector had informed through a tweet.
The special exercise comes two days after the Centre revised the guidelines for vaccination of students going abroad for study and research.
As per the revised rules, the students can take the second dose 28 days after the first one and the facility will be available for those who would undertake international travel for the specific purpose. Through a statement, the Health Ministry had said vaccine type as Covishiled is sufficient and no other qualifying entries are required.
The Ministry also clarified that the respective State will designate competent authority in every district to administer the second dose of Covishield and CoWin certificate as proof of final vaccination will be linked to the passport of the concerned beneficiaries.
Earlier, the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 (NEGVAC) had recommended 12 to 16 weeks (84 days) interval for the second dose of Covishield.
