Baripada: An unaccountable cash of Rs 3.91 lakh was seized from Mayurbhanj Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) Abhay Kumar Tripathy by Vigilance sleuths while he was on his way to Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Following the seizure, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous raid on his residence at Jayadev Vatika in Bhubaneswar and his office chamber and rented house at Baripada.
Acting on reliable information that the CDVO is on his way to Bhubaneswar from Baripada with the cash in a car, Vigilance officials intercepted his vehicle at Hatapada in Betnoti of Mayurbhanj district at around 8.15 AM. During verification, Rs 3,91,000 kept in five envelopes were found in his possession. When the CDVO failed to give satisfactorily explanation regarding source of the cash, the officials detained him.
Further investigation is on in this connection, sources said.
