Chhatrapur SDPO, IIC test positive for coronavirus in Ganjam district

Berhamapur: Two more police personnel in Odisha have tested positive for COVID-19. The two cops are Chhatrapur SDPO and Inspector In Charge (IIC) of Chhatrapur police station of Ganjam, informed the district Superintendent of Police on Saturday.
“In the line of duty, our two COVID warriors-SDPO Chhatrapur and IIC Chhatrapur-have tested COVID positive. We wish their speedy recovery. Inspired by their services, we take this fight against COVID with great zeal to save our citizens from the disease,” said the SP.
Sources said the district administration will shortly declare the police station as containment zone. Besides, contact tracing and follow-up action has already begun.
In the last 24 hours, 20 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the district taking the total count to 678. While the number of active cases stands at 128, 545 patients have recovered from the disease. Meanwhile, five COVID patients have died in the district.
Earlier, a Havildar of Motu border check post in Malkangiri tested positive for coronavirus, informed district Collector Manish Agarwal yesterday. After detection of the case, Inspector In-Charge (IIC) along with other staff of Motu Police Station were instructed to remain under home quarantine.
