Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday seized brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh from a youth in Jagatpur market area in Cuttack while he was waiting to hand over the contraband to a man. The police have arrested the man and investigating into the matter.
According to the police, the police was patrolling the area and the Sub Inspector Truptimayee Sahu who was in the police van out of suspicion nabbed the accused Kartik Das. When the team searched him the found the drugs in his possession.
The police said a total of 10.3 gram of brown sugar was seized from the possession of Das.
During interrogation, Das alias Ghunga admitted that he was waiting for a man near Jagatpur market to sell the contraband item. Kartik, a native of Golanthara area in Berhampur has been staying in Telisahi in Cuttack city.
Meanwhile, the Chauliaganj police have registered a case in this connection and interrogating Das to find out about other involved in the racket.
Earlier, seven cases were pending against him, said the police.
