BMC yet to take decision to reopen markets in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday said no decision has been taken by it to reopen the sealed market areas.
An official of BMC said, however, the applications received from the Capital Market Association will be reviewed in line with guidelines. Appropriate steps would be taken thereafter, the official added.
Earlier in the day, more than 160 vendors of the Capital Market Association, Unit-2 Market Building in Bhubaneswar applied to the BMC for the conditional permission for reopening of shops. Also, they submitted an undertaking for compliance of BMC SOP at all times.
They agreed to take additional measures for crowd control inside the Market Building area.
Worth mentioning, the BMC ordered to seal the Market Building on June 13 for alleged violation of social distancing norms by customers.
The BMC also clarified that the timing of Khurda Sub Division regarding opening of markets is not applicable to BMC limits.
