BMC launches special vaccination drive for hotel staff, bedridden

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday launched a special vaccination drive for hotel and restaurant staff in the Capital city.
“Special Vaccination Drive carried out by BMC today for the hoteliers and restaurant staffs in association with Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha at the OSAP 7th Battalion High School,” tweeted BMC.
In the first phase today, 500 staff of more than 30 hotels were reportedly given COVID jabs. A staff here doesn’t need to book a slot to get the jab under this special drive of BMC.
“Hotels’ staff need to be immediately vaccinated as they are the one who will provide service to those who will visit the state and stay in hotels once the lockdown restrictions are lifted. We are very much thankful to the BMC,” said JK Mohanty, president of hotel & restaurant association of Odisha.
Around 500 such staff were vaccinated today, said Mohanty adding that the BMC has also planned to vaccinate the staff of online delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato.
Besides, the BMC has carried out a special doorstep vaccination drive for those who are bedridden.
“Citizens of Bhubaneswar who are bedridden & completely immobile, Don’t worry for Vaccination ! Just call 1929 to register yourself, BMC will arrange Vaccination for you,” BMC tweeted.
“I really appreciate the initiative of the BMC to vaccinate us. I am unable to move, so I hadn’t taken the jabs. Yesterday, I dialed 1929 and today BMC arranged vaccine jab for me at home,” said a beneficiary, Satish Sovan Mishra.
