Bhubaneswar: After Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) P K Jena directed Collectors and Municipal Commissioners to impose appropriate restrictions on celebration of Dola Melan and Holi considering their local conditions amidst the COVID-19 resurgence, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday issued guidelines for the festivals.
Regarding Dola Melan, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said Puja committees will have to take permission from the urban local body for the same. A maximum of six persons will be allowed to carry the Bimana to the Melana ground. Not more than 60 people will be allowed to congregate at the venue, he said.
“Besides, a maximum of 10 Bimanas will be allowed to congregate at once. Puja committees have been asked to carry out their Bimanas to the Melana venue on phased manner in case the number Bimanas exceeds the limit,” the BMC Commissioner said.
For upcoming Holi, vendors can put up their stalls in the capital city to sell colours. However, COVID-19 guidelines must be strictly adhered by all during celebration of the festivals, he cautioned.
