Biryani delivery man test positive for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Like the pizza delivery boy who was a tested positive for the deadly Corona virus disease, a similar case came up after a 36-year-old food delivery man tested positive for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar, which has left the residents of Mancheswar and Surya Nagar area panicked.
The swab test results of the youth were announced on Thursday evening who was among the three positive cases from the city.
According to sources, the youth was working for a Biriyani takeaway joint in Patia area and was mostly delivering food parcels in Surya Nagar area under Capital Police Station limits.
Few days ago, he developed COVID-19-like symptoms after which he called up 104 health helpline. The health officials then collected swab samples for confirmatory test and the results were out Thursday evening.
The youth living in a rented accommodation with his parents in Chakeisiani area under Mancheswar police limits was admitted to one of the designated hospitals here.
The residents in Chakeisiani and Surya Nagar are a scared as the officials have begun contact tracing to ascertain with how many persons he had come in contact.
As he was a Biriyani delivery agent, it will be a cause of concern to track with customers. As his area of operation was mostly in Surya Nagar, it is anticipated that he might have contracted the deadly virus from one of the positive patients detected earlier in the area.
On the other hand, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is likely to seal these areas for agressive contact tracing.
The BMC area has already been declared a Red zone as categorised by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
As per the last health update on COVID-19, Khurda district has 50 positive cases of which 16 are active, 36 recovered and two patients with co-morbidity died while undergoing treatment.
The state Thursday registered highest single-day spike in positive cases with 34 reported cases taking the tally to 219.
The influx of migrants from Surat in Gujarat has become a matter of concern for district administrations as the returnees are found to be positive for COVID-19, mostly in Ganjam district.
