Biggest ever spike of 4270 COVID-19 cases in Odisha; Khurda highest at 876

Bhubaneswar: As many as 4270 fresh COVID-19 cases, highest single-day spike so far, have been detected in Odisha in the the last 24 hours taking the state’s total tally to 162920 .

Of the total fresh cases detected from 30 districts, 2478 have been reported from different quarantine centres while remaining 1792 are local contacts. Contact tracing and follow up action is underway, said Information and Public Relation (I & PR) Department.

Khurda recorded highest 876 fresh cases followed by Cuttack (374) and Puri (287).

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 36473. However, 1,25,748 patients have recovered in the state so far.

It is pertinent to mention here that total 51,320 number of samples were tested in the state in the last 24 hours. So far 2567777 tests have been conducted in the state.
