Bhubaneswar: Continuing its stride as a leading Smart city of India, Bhubaneswar on Friday bagged two more awards in the India Smart City Awards Contest (IASC). The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) declared the awards during the Sixth Anniversary Celebration of Smart City Mission, AMRUT and PMAY (Urban) in New Delhi.
Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) was adjudged the second best in Social Aspects Category and third under Governance Category. While Tirupati and Tumakuru got the first and third places in the Special Projects Category, Vadodora and Thane were adjudged first and second respectively under Governance.
Uttar Pradesh was ranked as the best performing states in the country with respect to the Smart City mission. UP was followed by Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in terms of best performing states. Chandigarh topped the rankings among union territories in India.
CEO of BSCL Sanjay Kumar Singh expressed happiness over the feat of the Temple City in the IASC-2020. “We have achieved these awards with our innovations and ideas and in future the city will come up with more such citizen-centric projects,” he said.
