Bhubaneswar: Beating all odds, an 85-year-old woman COVID-19 patient in the state has emerged victorious in her battle against coronavirus infusing hope in the minds of other patients suffering from the deadly virus.
Probably, she was the oldest COVID-19 patient in the state.
The old woman weighing only 22 kg is a resident of Jajpur district and was admitted to the SUM COVID Hospital in BHubaneswar after getting infected with the deadly virus. Battling for life for 12 days, she finally recovered and was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. The aged patient was treated by a team of doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at the hospital.
Besides, 14 other COVID-19 patients of Jajpur district including two three-year-old children were discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. The discharged patients also included a 60-year-old man, who was diagnosed with diabetes in the hospital itself. The SUM COVID Hospital, set up in collaboration with the state Government and supported by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), has 525 beds, including 25 ICU beds. The hospital is functioning in a separate campus away from the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital.
