Bhubaneswar: After Commissionerate Police with the help of Maharashtra counterpart nabbed prime accused Biban Biswal in the 22-year-old Anjana Mishra gang-rape case, a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday met Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi.
A three-member team of the CBI, which was investigating the case, met the CP to collect more information regarding the case.
After the meeting, the CBI team said this was only a courtesy visit and the discussion was confidential.
Meanwhile, Biban’s wife has refuted the allegation against her husband terming him as innocent.
She said, “Biban had not kept any contact with the family for the last 22 years and never sent any money. I struggled a lot for the upbringing of my children during the last 22 years.”
Yesterday, the CP at a presser, informed that Odisha police with the help of Maharashtra counterpart nabbed prime accused Vivekananda alias Biban Biswal from Aamby Valley in Lonavala near Mumbai. Sarangi said the accused had changed his name to Jalandar Swain and was working as a plumber there.
