5-day shutdown announced in Ganjam district

Berhampur: In view of huge spike in COVID-19 positive cases, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange announced shutdown in all urban areas of the district for five days to break the chain of the virus transmission.
The shutdown will remain in force from July 9 to July 13.
During the shutdown, door-to-door health screening will be conducted in all NACs, Hinjilicut Municipality, all block headquarters and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) areas. Total 100 teams have been formed with one doctor in each team to carry out the screening, informed Kulange.
However, health, goods and agriculture services will remain unaffected during the shutdown.
Worth mentioning, the southern district has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The total number of positive cases Ganjam stands at 2621, including 1205 active cases. It has also reported the highest number of deaths due to the virus as 24 COVID-19 patients have so far succumbed to the virus in the district while another died due to other health complications.
