35 more deaths reported in Odisha, 8,313 new cases in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is witnessing a declining trend in the Covid-19 cases since the last few days as the daily case count continues to remain below 10,000 for the fifth straight day.
The State registered 8,313 new cases on Monday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 7,64,997, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
On the other hand, 35 more patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbed in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,754 in the State, a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department said.
Of the fresh cases detected across 30 districts of the State on Monday, 4,655 cases were reported from quarantine centres while the rest 3,658 were local transmission cases.
Khurda district, which included the State’s capital Bhubaneswar, topped the number of cases with 974 infections in the last 24 hours. This was followed by Cuttack (593), Mayurbhanj (532), Angul (505), Sundargarh (465), Balassore (452) and Dhenkanal (407),
Jajpur and Kendrapara reported 354 and 331 cases respectively.
Other districts which reported cases between 300 and 100 are Nayagarh (283), Jagatsinghpur (280), Bargarh (279), Boudh (209), Nabarangpur (205), Sambalpur (204), Koraput (198), Keonjhar (180), Kalahandi (162), Rayagada (148), Ganjam (129), Sonepur (123), Bolangir (119), Bhadrak (117), Jharsuguda (111) and Malkangiri (103).
Districts which detected below 100 cases are Kandhamal (90), Gajapati (85) Deogarh (55) and Nuapada (53).
The active cases in the State now stood at 91,663 while 6,70,527 patients have cured.
The State has so far tested a total of 1,17,11,459 samples including 66,057 on Sunday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.46 percent.
