Bhubaneswar: While the Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik have been appealing to the people of the state to maintain social distancing and wear mask due to COVID-19, one of his ministers has violated all the guidelines and norms and participated in a funeral in his constituency.
The minister is none other than Ranendra Pratap Swain, sitting MLA of Athagarh and Food and Civil Supplies Minister.
According to sources, the Minister had gone to Kakhadi in Kakhadi panchayat under Athagarh block in Cuttack district, to attend the funeral ceremony of a former sarpanch Susant Kumar Nayak who had died due to kidney failure. In the funeral around 2000 people had gathered and it was seen that Swain was carrying the body on his shoulders with many people around not wearing mask or maintaining social distancing norm. The incident occurred on May 28 in Kakhadi.
