2 youths hacked in broad daylight in the heart of Bhubaneswar; critical

Bhubaneswar: Raising serious questions over the law and order situation in the State, Bhubaneswar in particular, a group of 10 to 12 armed miscreants brutally hacked two youths at the Master Canteen Square on Monday afternoon, leaving them critically injured.

As per eyewitness account, the assailants, armed with swords, iron rods, and daggers chased the two youths on the main arterial road of the Capital city before and assaulting them with the weapons mercilessly. The duo was part of a five-member group that came under attack by the armed group in broad daylight.

The duo was rescued by police and locals in extremely critical condition and later shifted to a hospital, sources said.

“As many as 12 armed miscreants chased five persons and attacked them with sharp weapons. Three persons were injured in the attack,” claimed an eyewitness.

Though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, past enmity between two groups is suspected to have triggered the murderous mob attack.

“A clash between two groups ensued at a betel shop located in front of the railway station. When we received the Information, we rushed to the spot immediately and detained the main accused. He has been identified as Raja, a local goon. Other accused involved in the incident have also been identified and will be rounded up soon. Further investigation into the matter is on,” police said.
