Cuttack: Two youths met watery grave while taking bath in Luna river at Gopalpur village under Mahanga block in Cuttack district on Tuesday.
The deceased youths have been identified as Jitendra Pal (22), son of Naba Kishore Pal and Litu Sama (21), son of Sukadeba Samal of Gopalpur village.
As per sources, Jitendra and Litu with their two other friends had gone to Luna river to take bath at around 2 pm today. While taking bath at Mangala Gada , the two slipped into deep water and later swept away by strong water current. Soon after, the two others raised an alarm, following which villagers along with a firefighting team reached the spot for rescue operation.
While villagers rescue one of the youths, the fire tenders rescued another from the water. Both were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Nischintakoili. However, doctors at the hospital declared the two dead.
