2 thieves test COVID positive in Puri, 23 cops sent on quarantine

Puri: Out of the 18 persons tested COVID positive in Puri district in the last 24 hours, two are thieves, who were lodged at Kanas and Gadisagada police stations in the district.
While one of them was vehicle thief and arrested by Kanas police four days ago, another looter was arrested by Gadisagada police. After swab samples of the two came positive, 23 staff of two police stations have been asked to remain under quarantine.
Sources said 12 staff, including the Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Gadisagada police station have been asked to remain under quarantine. Similarly 10 staff of Kanas police station were sent to institutional quarantine while its IIC will remain under home isolation.
Earlier in May, an inmate of Puri jail had tested positive for the virus.
Currently, Puri district has total 188 positive cases, including 85 active cases.
