Bhubaneswar: Two officials of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have tested positive for COVID-19. As per preliminary reports, two engineers and a driver have been found to have contracted coronavirus infection.
Sources said the two officials had taken leave and recently visited a particular district in Odisha. Both of them were tested for COVID-19 after their return to Bhubaneswar, informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary.
“As a precautionary measure, we have sealed the engineering department and other staff of the department who had come in contact with both the officials in the past and have been asked to remain in home quarantine,” said Chaudhary.
Chaudhary further informed that the BMC officials of the engineering wing have now been sent to COVID Care Centre. The driver, who has been tested positive for COVID-19, is not a staff of BMC, he added.
