17 new COVID-19 cases in a single day, tally at 142

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported the highest ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Thursday with the State recording 17 new cases. With this the State tally reached 142.
In last 24 hours, Odisha reported 20 positive cases.
Official sources said the 14 fresh cases have been reported from Katikata containment area of Jajpur district. Six females are among the fresh positive cases.
All are asymptomatic and have links to the West Bengal returnees, said official sources, adding that contact tracing and follow-up action are being done.
So far, 36 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Jajpur district till now.
Earlier in the day, the Odisha government said three persons of the district were detected positive for the deadly virus.
Till yet, the number of active cases in the State is 102. A total of 39 cured of the infection and one died.
The Odisha government so far received test reports of 31,696 samples.
