14 migrants run over by goods train in Aurangabad

Aurangabad: At least 14 migrant labourers were crushed to death after an empty goods train ran over them in Karmad police station areas in Aurangabad of Maharashtra this Friday morning.
The deceased included a few children.
Initial reports said the people were taking a nap on railway tracks when the incident happened.
“The workers, who were walking to Bhusawal from Jalna, were returning to Madhya Pradesh. They had been walking along the rail tracks and slept on the rail tracks due to exhaustion,” an official at the Karmad police station said.
They were mowed down by the train at 5.15 am, the officials added.
Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Central Railway (SCR), Maharashtra said 14 people died while five others suffered injures in the mishap. However, the injured have been shifted to Aurangabad civil hospital.
