Jajpur: Another 101 inmates of Jajpur Road Sub-Jail on Saturday tested positive for the COVID-19. During antigen tests conducted by a team of health workers led by the Medical Officer of Korei Community Health Centre, the 101 inmates of the sub-jail were found to be COVID-19 positive.
Yesterday, 11 inmates of the sub-jail tested positive for the virus.
An official said within two days, antigen tests of 212 inmates and staff the sub-jail were conducted.
Of them, 112 inmates have tested positive whereas no staff of the sub-jail has contracted the virus.
Jajpur CDMO Sudhanshu Sekhar Bal said due to security reasons so many jail inmates could not be shifted to any other place. The authorities of the sub-jail have been asked to keep the positive cases in isolation on its premises.
So far, a total 2,579 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in Jajpur district. The recovery count in the district stands at 1,870 where as four COVID-19 patients died of the disease. One COVID-19 patient died due to diseases other than coronavirus.
The number of active cases in the district stands at 704.
